A Little Coffee Appreciation (Day)

Published On March 26, 2012 | By Gypsy | Gastronomy, Kitchen Tales

Coffee Appreciation Day, on a Monday.  Coincidence?  I think not.   A little shout out to the black brew that kick starts our mornings.  The ritual, the aroma and the luxury that is coffee.

“I have measured out my life with coffee spoons.” ~T.S. Eliot

Among the most complex beverages known to man, coffee is the world’s second most valuable (legal) traded commodity, after oil.   This tiny bean has an enormous impact on our culture; economic, social and political.  The deeper I move into the study of all things editable and drinkable, the more I realize that every purchase I make has an impact, be it local or global, and nowhere is that more evident than with the purchase of a simple cup of coffee.

The Knowledge Network produced a three part series, Black Coffee, available on line,  that takes you though the complicated world of coffee.  It’s an eye opener.  I guarantee you will never look at your morning caffeine the same way again.

“I like my coffee like I like my men – hot, smooth & freshly pressed.”  ~ Gypsy
